Jesus Thesis

Inspired by the thinking of Nigerian feminist scholar Oyèrónkẹ́ Oyěwùmí who writes that “the entire western episteme bases its categories and hierarchies on visual modes and binary distinctions: male and female, white and black, homosexual and heterosexual etc,” Jesus Thesis and Other Critical Fabulations is a performance work that uses the tools of disidentification, biomythography and critical fabulation to propose a palimpsest of identity that complicates the primacy of sight as the definitive means of meaning/people making: a critical kiki; a ritual of remembrance; a sermon for faggots, their friends and the fallen.
